Well, in fairness, much of the Shenandoah's main stem (22 of 57 miles) flows entirely in West Virginia before joining the Potomac. And the crest of the Blue Ridge forms the state line between Jefferson County (WV) and Loudoun County (VA), which explains why the HQ of the Appalachian Trail is in Harpers Ferry. All in all, the lyrics are more accurate than the rather deceptive map (produced by a Virginian, no doubt) that accompanies today's essay.

Hey, thank you, Mike -- I love your detailed discourse. And I'm betting you are right, that the map is a Virginia product. :) 'Preciate your loyal readership, buddy!
