Loved it, Charlie! Even though it's Hoagy's most famous, most recorded, and song of the century, I have to say my favorite of his is Riverboat Shuffle. Reasons probably obvious. Glad you included the bit from John Hasse. He and I have been friends through the years as we both came raggin' along together through the Midwest during the 70's and 80's.
Thanks, Jazz! And wow -- how cool that you have a connection with John Hasse. As we always say, small world!
Riverboat Shuffle is a favorite of mine too, but of course, I love just about everything Hoagy wrote. What an amazing composer. A particular favorite is his little known "Memphis in June" (https://1937flood.substack.com/p/memphis-in-june), which I first heard by Connie Jones aboard the DQ.

Yes! Memphis in June ala Connie - great tune. And let’s not forget Skylark as sung by Bobby Durham.
LOVE Skylark. We've not tried to take a flight on that one yet. Maybe that ought to go on our 2025 wish list!
Another favorite I learned from Chuck Romine is Hoagy's "New Orleans." Here's a Flood spin on it:
