Very interesting Charlie. Roger and I wanted to record that song, but neither of us could sing it to suit us. Perhaps we were confused by our mom's version with the modern version. At any rate, it is a hell of a good song. My mom often surprised me with with her knowledge of of songs. Once, on our back porch I was playing "Year of Jubilo" n the fiddle and when I stopped playing, she sang every word of it back to me. "Looky younder don't you see that master with a mustsache on face, He's go'n down that road this morning like he is a go'n some place, And the darkies sang Ha Ha, and the darkies sang Ho H o. For they all knew they were good times coming in the Year of Jubilo."

I remember hearing the song the first from Roger back in the 1970s. In fact, I once told Joe about that night and we captured it on the recorder. Here's the snippet:
