Hi Charlie, thanks for another great newsletter and audio. You mentioned one of your musical heroes as being The Jim Kweskin Jugband. Legendary 60's musicians.

When we moved house about 6 years ago, I inherited a really lovely mancave at the bottom of the garden that meant I could actually host real house concerts, the very reason I started Grateful Fred's Americana, Roots and Acoustic Nights all those yeras ago (2010). At the time my wife Barbara wasnt' too keen on my holding GF's at our house so I held the first one in the back room of a pub. Eventually I was asked to move it to the beautiful Arts Centre that we've been in for that last 10 years. But with the mancave I was able to also host mid-month house concerts.

After holding quite a number I was eventually called, out of the blue, by a redord label owner here in the UK who was issuing a Jim Kweskin album and also promoting a short UK tour for him. He asked me if I'd be interested in having Jim Kweskin play a Grateful Fred House Concert.

Would I? Would I? You bet I would. So on the 2nd of November 2018 Jim Kweskin performed two 45 minutes spots for about 40 "Fredheads" who'd gathered in my mancave. I couldnt' believe it.

It was a great night and Jim performed a lot of songs that we knew and a whole host of things we didnt'. The Fredheads loved it and, of course, so did I.

Your newsletter brought it all back.

O M G, Colin! I suspect you can feel the heat of my envy from all the way over here. All of us band founders — Dave, Roger, me — we’re such devout Kweskin fans. Honestly, so much of interest in mixing music and history came from two groups— the jug band and the New Lost City Ranblers.
