Aw, thank you, Brother Colin! I've always loved this song since first hearing it 50 years ago(!) but I never dreamed of doing it. Funny how new people in the room (Danny's been with us only a year now) and a new instrument (the resonator guitar hasn't lived here more than a month) suddenly connect with half-century-old memories. There's magic in that... :-)
HI Brother Charles, ;-) I think a new instrument opens up new possibilities too.
The suport artists that I had performing at Grateful Fred's on Wednesday, John and Martin, were playing cello guitar and harp guitar, instruments I'd never come across before and their sounds were new 'colours" to me, if you know what I mean. Very different.
We were laughing about how we all fancied getting one or the other and how to explain our new acquisitions to our wives. "This? I've had this for ages. It just goes to show how much attention you pay to me and my music".
Ah yes. Pamela and I have been married since 1969 and she's noted that in 53 she can't remember me buying ANYTHING on impulse.... until last year when I bought two guitars and two banjos (!).... She's wondering (aloud) if maybe I've had a stroke.... :)
We just watched this on Netflix. David Geffen was quite the feller. I love Jackson Browne, and I’m so glad he got a shot with Geffen. Geffen supported & believed in his music & vision.
We need another David Geffen here in Appalachia! 🥴👍🏼❤️🎶
We love your version of this!
We saw that this was in an open tuning. It seems as if a lot of people including Joni Mitchell used open tunings a lot and seemed to master it quite well. Steve keeps one guitar set in an open tuning for one of her songs, Both Sides Now.
Your new resonator guitar sounds awesome. The vocal harmonies and lead guitar mighty sweet! Keep up the good work folks!
Hey, thanks for the kind words! And thanks, too, for the hedzup up about the Netflix film on David Geffen -- we'll check that out! His work wirh Asylum Records was so fundamental to many of our favorite artists of the '70s!
Thanks Charles, "Jamaica Say You Will" is possibly my favourite Jackson Browne song. Certainly one of them.
Your version sounds so relaxed. I think Jackson would really enjoy it.
Have a great weekend.

Sadly I've used that line too many times now...

Sounds familiar... ;-)
