I met Patty the same night the Floodsters did. Later we met again in Huntington and she shared more of her life's story. One thing she didn't admit to was that she'd been a fashion model. Later I wrote a short story based on her life.It was published in the Appalachian Anthology put out annually by Shepherd College. She was a fascinating gal, but in the end, a victim of her own wanderings.

One piece I particularly liked was this one, Jason Probst's story in the Hutchinson (Kan.) News, published two months after Patulla died:

Such a sad story Charles. I re-read it again this morning. In any other circumstances she could her life could have been so diferent.
