charlie, only attended that festival once (with Joe Dobbs) but thorougly enjoyed it. They had some good square dancers. J.P. was always one of my favorite guys, saw him a lot at festivals, Galax etc. and he was always a joy to talk to and fidldle with. When I would tell him I did not know the tune he was going to play, he would just smile and say, "of course you do," and go ahead and play it. I would just

chord along with him,. Everyone wanted to go to breakfast with J. P. because he was just fun. Glad you guys keep attending.

Ah, Mack, what wonderful stories! Yes, I remember breakfast with J.P. Every time I was with Joe at breakfast time, he’d tell the waitress, “I’ll just have a couple hen eggs,” in imitation of J.P. And, man, Doug Chaffin — who traveled with J.P. and Annadeene for about 25 or years — has some stories. :) For instance, he talked about a tune they learned from some Norwegian gu whose name J.P. couldn’t remembered, but he’d always say, “But it sounded like “Pint o’ whiskey…”
