Doug was a giant of a man. He always had a smile for me, and a welcoming grin. He created sounds that were so powerful and at the same time, joyous and comforting. He would switch from instrument to instrument seamlessly, supporting all the other musicians, while adding his own subtle touches. Rest well, dear and beloved Doug. I will never forget you.
Oh, what a beautiful note, dear one! We are heartbroken. Honestly, we knew our time with Doug was short now, but oh how I dreaded this day.
I talked with Doug just last week. It was a warm Saturday and he and his son, Philip, were sitting out on the porch. I had been staying away because, on campus, I had been near people exposed to Covid and I didn't want to take a chance. Lately, though, the Covid situation was getting better, and I told him I was hoping I could visit with him soon. In fact, this morning, before I heard the news, I was thinking I'd call him this afternoon and see if he felt like having a visitor. So sad.
My condolences to all the Flood and to Doug's family. I know how important he was to the band, your sound, your catalog, and especially to the friendship and camaraderie of the band.
Oh, Dee -- thank you so much for those kind words. Yes, we knew the time was short, but we still dreaded this day. As Randy said, The world is different without him.

A fine, fascinating tribute to this talented man. I wish you, family and friends peace, comfort and the best memories.
Thank you, old friend.
Thanks for this tribute. We remember him well from our visits to Flood practices with Joe Dobbs. A lovely man. Judy & Rod Jones.
Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, Doug absolutely loved those evening when you were in the house! :)
Sorry for your loss. Doug sounds like a wonderful man and a superb musician.
