Wow, what a great record of the band to have after all this time Charlie. Someone was very forward-thinking! We were only saying a few days ago that we wished we had any footage or recordings of our first efforts all those 55 years or so ago. Nowadays EVERYTHING is recorded in some way or another and so easily. By the way, I love the sound of an autoharp. We had one too in those days. A bit of a bugger to tune though. And you were a good looking bunch too!
I guess "forward thinking" fits a coupla journalists who also are history nuts. The result is a basement and attic full of clippings, pictures and tapes! :)
By the way, the autoharp was such a central part of the band for the first 40 years, and we miss Br'er Peyton very much. Incidentally, you mgiht enjoy this little snippet of Dave talking during a radio gig about his love affair with the autoharp:
Just listened to the clip. 45 years of autoharp (and kazoo). A hero...especially owning 4 or 5 of them. I didnt' know there were 4 or 5 left in the world! ;-)
Thanks for that link Charlie, I'll be listening a little later. Frank, my oldest friend and bandmate used to play the autoharp, amongst other things in the band. Although he hates to be reminded of that fact!
Ah, yes -- we have an old ranger too. Doug, who turned 81 last summer, has played bass, mandolin, guitar and fiddle with us over the years. C'mon, man, we've said, make up your MIND! :) How I envy his talents.
