Swingin' at the Speakeasy!

#170 / Video Extra
5

As we said several times during the gig, we’ve been waiting forever for a place like this, a venue that seems custom-made for tunes that The Flood’s been loving for decades now.

So, whenever we come to Sal’s Italian Eatery & Speakeasy in Ashland, Ky. — either as performers or as customers and fans — it’s always a party.

That certainly was the case Friday when we landed on a chilly January night to play three hot sets. Here’s a trio of tunes from video that Pamela Bowen shot at a ringside table.

Another Tune

As we said during the gig, you really can’t come to Ashland and not play a tune from her favorite son, Keith Whitley, and this is our top choice.

Randy Hamilton and Danny Cox brought “When You Say Nothing at All” to a rehearsal a few months ago and it immediately took on solid Flood tones. In this video, which Pamela Bowen shot from a ringside table, Randy purrs the vocals and Danny’s accompaniment leads perfectly into Vanessa Coffman’s smooth-as-silk sax solo.
