On a Sunny Saturday in Charleston
#587 / Video Extra
Floodster Emerita Michelle Hoge doesn’t get back this way very often, but when she does, time with her old band mates is a must.
Yesterday the Flood Family hied itself to Charleston to meet up with her for a sunny afternoon of fun. The destination was the band’s favorite Capitol City venue, Edgewood Summit near Cato Park, to which Michelle and her husband Rich drove from their Loveland, Ohio, home.
The Flood has played Edgewood many times — before yesterday, the most recent was last spring — and it’s always such a treat to watch the residents singing along with the band’s decidedly eclectic repertoire. What other bunch would be able to keep up with old jug band songs, classic blues and folk songs, 1930s and ‘40s swing tunes and even a Charlie Poole number?
Regular Flood videographer Pamela Bowen couldn’t make the trip this time, so Rich Hoge graciously agreed to man the camera. The video above is the product of Rich’s kind ministrations.
