We are sad to report that our old friend Norman Davis passed away today after a long illness.
We knew earlier today that the end was near when we read a touching Facebook message from Norman’s daughter, Esta Browning, who said the family was sitting vigil with her father.
“I'm so grateful,” Esta added, “to his wife Carol for her caring presence with him and with me.” She also expressed gratefulness for the technology that allowed her to be with her dad from her San Diego home in California over the past year in care.
“We’ve got this,” Esta added. “We’re fine. Death — especially for a 94-year-old man who's lived a very rich life — is just the next natural part of that life.
“He hated his slow decline over the past several years and many times expressed frustration that he wasn't able to plan and implement his own death. He said all of the things he wanted to say,” Esta wrote, “and experienced more than his childhood self could ever have imagined. So, onward we go.”
We in Norman Davis’ Flood Family are glad that we got to express our love for him earlier this year in an article that looked back gratefully on all that this wonderful friend brought us. To revisit our tribute, click here.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
