News of the “These Boys” Premiere
#579 / News Extra!
We are thrilled that our old friend Jim Casto has reported on next week’s Huntington premiere of “These Boys,” Randy Yohe’s award-winning documentary film about the 50-year history of The 1937 Flood.
As Jim wrote in today’s Herald-Dispatch, the film will be shown Friday evening, March 20, as a feature on the opening night of the Appalachian Film Festival at Foundry Theater in City Hall, 800 Fifth Avenue.
Of the one-hour documentary, Casto notes that Yohe “interviews current members of the band, recalls the important roles played by band members who have passed on and even has given a few of The Flood’s loyal fans an opportunity to put in their two cents’ worth.”

About the Film
As reported earlier, Yohe and his superb cinematographer Anthony Dean began working on “These Boys” in mid-2024 by filming the band as it partied with friends and neighbors at the Bowen House on a summer evening.
Blending footage of the interviews and the partying with vintage audio and video from the band’s long and deep archives, cinematographer Dean completed the work last fall. Since then, the movie has been working its way through film festivals around the world.
While “These Boys” is not competing in the Appalachian Film Festival — it just didn’t seem fair, since The Flood has such a long history with the festival, including entertaining at its inauguration 22 years ago — being chosen as an AFF featured film is the latest in a series of recent honors for Yohe’s new film.
The East Village New York Film Festival made the film as its January selection for “Best Feature Documentary.”
Texas’s Austin International Art Festival selected the film as a semi-finalist.
In France, the Cine Paris Film Festival honored Randy with its best director award.
So, if you want to see what all the excitement is about, put next Friday, March 20, on your social calendar and see “These Boys” at the Appalachian Film Festival.

Congrats, and please let us know if any streaming options become available!
