This heart-shaped box of music is our new virtual Valentine show, featuring a free playlist of tunes that we’ve recorded over the past dozen years at live shows, jam sessions, rehearsals and parties.
For this holiday blend, we've stirred in a dash of Dylan (“Peggy Day,” “Tonight I’ll be Staying Here with You”), a pinch of Prine (John’s “One Red Rose”), some Flood-infused Top 40 hits of the past (“Lovin’ Arms,” “The Rose,” “Walkin’ After Midnight”), a few folk songs (“The Water is Wide,” “Down by the Sally Gardens”) and, of course, the most moonstruck moments from The Great American Songbook (“Moonglow,” “Blue Moon” and “Fly Me to That Said Moon”).
Most of the vocals are performed by Michelle and/or Charlie, but we also have a special guest. The Flood’s perennial sweetheart, Cincinnati’s Kathy Castner, is on hand for a trio of memorable songs during the set.
Meanwhile, the supporting cast is the usual crew of Floodsters, including Joe Dobbs and David Peyton, Roger Samples and Doug Chaffin, Sam St. Clair and Dave Ball, Jacob Scarr, Randy Hamilton, Paul Martin and Vanessa Coffman.
So, on this winter’s weekend, plop another marshmallow in the cocoa and hum along with The Flood love list. To get it rolling, just click here.
And after all that, if you still need to get your love light lit, settle in with the more expansive, more random playlist on the Ballads Channel of our free Radio Floodango streaming music service by clicking here.
