Eager for St. Patrick’s Day? We are too! Click into our new virtual St. Patrick’s show, featuring a free playlist of tunes that The Flood has recorded over the past dozen years at live shows, jam sessions, rehearsals and parties.
For this holiday blend, we stir in a rich mix of Joe Dobbs fiddle tunes (“Whisky Before Breakfast,” “Gentle Maiden,” “St. Anne’s Reel”), some William Butler Yeats (“Down by the Sally Gardens,” “Golden Apples of the Sun”), a lovely ballad by Michele (“The Water is Wide”), a few re-imagined classics (“South Wind,” “Star of the County Down”). And, of course, you’ve got to have a drinking song, and we’ve got a dandy; the playlist wraps up with a live sing-along of “The Wild Rover.” (all together now …. “oh, and it’s no, nay, ne-ver … no, nay, never no more! Will I plaaaay the wild rover, no, never no more …)
We also have some special guests, including Floodster Emeritus Stewart Schneider (“Carrickfergus” and “Miss Rowan Davies”), Wendell Dobbs (“McLeod’s Reel”) and Mike Smith (“On Raglan Road”).
And of course, the supporting cast is the usual crew, including David Peyton, Doug Chaffin, Sam St. Clair and Dave Ball, Randy Hamilton, Danny Cox, Paul Martin, Vanessa Coffman and Chuck Romine.
Really a great selection of songs and tunes. Some of my faves, Sally Gardens, Stewart’s Carrickfergus, and others make a great tribute to St. Patty and The Flood.
